Waikato Tractors: 35 Years as your trusted farming partner
Doing business is about relationships, it’s about working with people you trust, and having the necessary skills and experience to add positively to your bottom line. Trust and experience are words often used in the same sentence as Waikato Tractors, who started business in 1983, and 35 years later still serve the farmers and landowners of the greater Waikato region.
Building a good reputation sounds easy on paper but is all about actions and attention to detail. In the case of Waikato Tractors, their reputation is driven by supplying the world’s best tractor and machinery brands, but more importantly, backing those products with 24-7 service and parts support from an experienced team, who not only talk the talk, but also walk the walk. That team operates from well-equipped premises on Kahikatea Drive in Hamilton’s business district, with around 35 full-time staff, many of whom have been with the company for more than twenty-five years and helped generations of the region’s farmers.
Having started all those years ago with the Iseki tractor brand, Waikato Tractors now focuses on tractors from the global AGCO stable, with familiar and endearing brands like Massey Ferguson, Fendt, Valtra, and their original brand, Iseki.
As well as selling great tractors the business also supports the grass growing region of New Zealand with AGCO’s harvest products and many other iconic brands from New Zealand and overseas. To meet demand for changing customer needs, particularly in the contracting sector where operators are seeking out new opportunities, the Ag and Civil Division was formed in 2017.
But as any forward-thinking business knows, there’s never a time to stand still, so with the imminent arrival of the new Waikato Expressway soon to by-pass Hamilton to the east, Waikato Tractors is about to raise its game to even greater levels. The recent acquisition of a prime site adjacent to the Hautapu off-ramp at Cambridge heralds the development of a new chapter, meaning a new modern building to support and drive sales, service and parts support to even higher levels, while making access easier for the existing and next generations of farmers and contractors. This will ensure that the next 35 years will see the formation of new, while reinforcing existing relationships, and ensuring Waikato Tractors continues to be the name that farming families trust.
